The Florida Forest Service keeps a graphic list of burns they know about. It is an interactive burn map that tracks wildfires, but also any open burn authorizations.  The following should assist in determining if there is a prescribed or pile burn close enough to Corkscrew Shores to smell the smoke. The Florida Forest Service often requires burning be done by a certified person (pile burner or prescribed burn manager). A good way to be certain one understands the conditions under which to burn and not to burn (or put it out if one needs) is to take a certified pile burner class, or if one has a good deal of land to clear, a certified prescribed burn manager class.
